Thanks so much to everyone for stopping by last week, sharing your stories, and hearing all about Fair Game. Congratulation to Snulfers, you are the winner of Lori Handeland's, Any Given Doomsday. I'll be contacting you for your snail mail addresss or you can email me on skully at skullybuzz dot com.
Next up, I have Kresley Cole's Dark Needs at Night's Edge, part of the Immortals After Dark series. I love Kresley Cole's writing. To be eligible for the drawing, you must type in your email address. I'll also be adding you to my newsletter for updates on releases and contests. I'll announce the winner on my June 29th blog.
And speaking of paranormal romances, that's the subject of this week's blog. It seems to me that the hottest thing going in romance right now is the paranormal. They run the gamut from vampires to shapeshifters, faeries to witches, demon hunters to vampire slayers. Sometimes the hero or heroine is the vampire, sometimes the vampire is the bad guy. I'm a huge fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I've got all seven seasons on DVD and recently finished watching the whole series again. I have some favorite paranormal authors I follow also. But I'm interested in hearing what you like to read and why. Are you still into the vampire/shapeshifter world building? Have you tired of it? Are you looking for something new and different? Are you interested in reading more of what I'll call paranormal lite, psychics, ghosts, reincarnation, etc.
So let's talk about paranormal romance and what you love or hate about them, what you'd like to see more or less of.

Hmm, why can I no longer do a cut and paste into blogger from Word. Ah, the mysteries of life.
Hi Jasmine,
I do still read some paranormal, for instance I do read Kresley Cole, but I was already a fan of her work after reading her historicals, which is why I started reading her IAD series.
I am more into what paranormal lite (ie Lora Leigh's breed series), but have been more into contemporary romance more than anything else right now (Shayla Black & Maya Banks)
Paranormals are my favorite read, be they light or dark.
That's how I found Kresley Cole's paranormals, too, Carrie, because I was already reading her historicals. I haven't read Lora's breed books, but I've enjoyed her erotica series. I do love Maya Banks' books. i haven't tried Shayla Black.
and I better write a paranormal for you, Estella!
Well, I did do the Max series (JB Skully) for LiquidSilverBooks, which are about ghosts and psychics. As I said, paranormal lite.
I'm currently reading Rachel Caines The Morganville vampire series and I'm really enjoying them!
Oh yes, Teresa, Rachel Caine is great!
I like books with magic and witches (Nora Roberts Three Sisters Island trilogy and The Keys trilogy come to mind), and also books about werewolves.
I like magic, too, Rita. Like Garden Spells with the magical tree.
I loved Garden Spells, too! Actually have it on loan from the library right now.
The idea of objects (either animate or inanimate) having a personality or a soul is quite intriguing.
There was a movie I remember when I was young called This House Possessed.
In my WIP, The Secrets of Stone House, I'm sure my memories of that movie came into play when creating the character of Stone House. And there are some fairly compelling reasons behind all that it does.
Congrats Snulfers!
Hi Jas, I like a lot of the different paranormal stories out there right now. I don't read the ghost or reincarnation ones but have always loved the Fae stories. Karen Moning has written her books about them for years and there great. The books by Kim Harrison, Hallows series about a witch is the only one I read with witches and I'm hooked. I've read blurbs from Kresley's books and always think about buying them but never have because of all the other paranormal series that I read with Vampires and Shifters. This book might get me hooked, lol. Recently I've read a few books about Atlantis warriors and there new paranormal characters added in with the bad Vampires and other paranormals that I found interesting by Alyssa Day.
With so much paranormal out there I like to mix Historicals and Romantic Suspense in between to have variety. denwal1@aol.com
I, too, have a magical house in one of my stories, Rosemary. My agent currently has it at several publishing houses. I think it's really fun when a house, or inanimate object, takes on a life of its own. Good luck with Stone House!
I agree, Dena, with paranormal being the really big thing, mixing in some other genres is great. Love Kim Harrison's stuff and Alyssa Day, but I haven't read Karen Moning, if you can believe that! Thanks for the input! And I hope you're feeling better.
I love the paranormal genre. I'm currently obssessed with J. R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series. Those sexy vamps are to die for! Just finished Laura Adrian's Kiss Of Midnight and thoroughly enjoyed it. So many books, not enough time!
